Aida’s Story: A New Family

My name is Aida.

Life was so difficult for me and I struggled deeply. I had hoped that my husband would join me and our baby from overseas but he never ended up joining us. Feeling abandoned, I was alone with our son in a foreign country, not knowing what to do.

I remember having to walk with a stroller and take the bus to and from the small apartment we were in. I didn’t know how to live as a single mother, how to find a job, or how to find better housing.

I was so jaded by the evil in the world and I questioned if good could exist in people's hearts.

Feeling desperate, I finally decided to come to the Life Center with my eight month old son. The Life Center gave me new sisters and a spiritual family.

It was Nadia Gordynsky who gave me direction and the encouragement to push through my difficulties. She let us stay in her own home, blessing me with her trust. She inspires me every day with her kind heart, love for God, and love for people.

Amazingly, my new family at the Life Center gifted me with a car so we could get around and I stopped having to walk home carrying groceries from the store.

Sometimes when I drive down Bustleton Street in Philly, I remember how difficult it was being alone with my problems and having to walk along that street with my son to get home.

The Life Center brought change to my life. It provided me with connections and friendships so I didn’t feel so alone. I got help from new friends and got back on my feet, gaining independence for the first time. I went from being an orphan, alone with my problems, to trusting in God and learning how to live rightly.

Now, as a child of God, I know that I have a father who guides me and takes care of us with his wisdom and love. I now have sisters who are close to me in spirit and faith.

Even though life isn’t perfect and it’s still difficult, I’m learning how to live, I don’t have to do it alone.
