Urgent Prayer for Ukraine: A Night of Devastating Loss

Ukraine is facing another possible night of attacks. We are asking friends around the world to pause, read, and pray.

A Night of Terror in Kyiv and Lviv

Last night, families across Kyiv and Lviv endured another terrifying ballistic missile attack. According to reports shared with our team, seventy-four missiles were launched, bringing destruction, injury, and unimaginable grief. As families sheltered and rescue teams searched through the rubble, the human cost of this war once again became painfully real.

Six members of one family were killed in the attack. Among them were three children, only 6, 11, and 17 years old. Fifty people were injured, and a 93-year-old relative was trapped beneath the rubble. Behind every number is a name, a family, and a life forever changed. These are not distant headlines to our team in Ukraine. They are neighbors, relatives, friends, and families living in the communities our Life Centers serve each day.

The danger has not passed. Another attack is expected tonight, leaving families to prepare once again for the sound of alarms, the rush to shelters, and the uncertainty of what morning may bring.

A Mother’s Unimaginable Loss

In the midst of this attack, we received heartbreaking news. A mom had recently given birth to a premature baby weighing only 860 grams. This tiny child depended on continuous medical care and electricity-powered equipment to survive.

When the attack began, the baby had to be moved to the basement for safety. During that urgent move, electricity and the critical medical support the baby needed were interrupted. Within a matter of minutes, the baby passed away.

For the safety and privacy of this mother, we cannot share the city or additional identifying details. But we can share her need for prayer.

Please pray for this precious mother as she faces a depth of grief no parent should ever have to endure. She is mourning her baby while continuing to live under the fear and instability of war. Ask God to draw near to her, surround her with compassionate people, and carry her through the hours and days ahead.

Mothers Are Coming to Our Lviv Life Center

The photos accompanying this post show some of the mothers who came to our Lviv Life Center following the attack. They arrived looking for a safe haven; a place where they could breathe, gather with others, receive comfort, and know they were not alone.

Our Life Centers are places where a frightened mother can be welcomed by name, where children can find a moment of calm, and where families can receive practical care, prayer, and the hope of Christ. In moments like these, the purpose of our work becomes even more urgent.

Mothers and children are pouring into the centers carrying fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Some have been displaced. Some have already experienced deep loss. Others are simply trying to make it safely through another night. Our Ukrainian team continues to open the doors, listen to their stories, pray with them, and meet immediate needs as resources allow.

As night falls over Ukraine, we ask you not to look away. Pause with us. Speak the needs of these families before the Lord. Ask Him to be a refuge for those hiding from missiles, a comfort to those who are grieving, and a source of strength for those serving on the front lines of compassion.
