Client Story: Lena, from a “Single” to a “Happy” Mother

Mothers of Save a Life International aren’t simply clients, each one of them is a dear friend of ours, whom we love dearly. Their lives and stories matter to us, and we support them to the best of our abilities. A mother from Chernivtsi Life Center recently shared her heartbreaking story, and we would love for you to hear it. 

“My name is Lena. I am a happy mother to a wonderful little boy named Bogdan. However, just a year ago, I was completely lost and in despair.

Two months after I met my boyfriend, I got pregnant. At first, everything was fine, but then he began to raise his hand against me. Each time he would promise me that it wouldn't happen again, and each time I would believe him, trying to save the relationship.

One day, he left for another city on a business trip and stopped answering my calls. I continuously searched for him, and called him, however, only after three months did I discover the truth behind his silence. Three stab wounds. He had passed away…

When I was 30 weeks pregnant, I visited my gynecologist. As she asked about the baby's father, I couldn’t hold back my tears when I had to call myself a “single mother”. Seeing my reaction she told me about the Life Center in Chernivtsi, which helps pregnant mothers.

I signed up for a consultation and was met with a listening ear and a supportive heart. Chernivtsi Life Center provided me with everything I needed for myself and all the essentials for my future baby, as well as invited me to an educational program teaching about the ways of motherhood.

After giving birth to my son, Bogdan, I started attending Small Groups for mothers. For me, Chernivtsi Life Center became a blessing where I receive psychological support, useful advice, and someone who listens.

My son is already 6 months old, I've been a client of the Life Center for 5 months now, and I can confidently say that I'm happy. I enjoy learning and having to be a part of this wonderful community! Thank you, for being in my life!”
