These were the words of the main speaker, Gene Ontjes, owner of two Chick-Fil-A restaurants in Pennsylvania, at the fourth Annual Fundraising Banquet for Save a Life International, on November 2nd, 2019.
He described how his young mother was pressured to have an abortion, but decided to give birth to him, so Mr. Ontjes considers himself an “abortion survivor”. He relayed an emotional story; how he started his life as a foster child and was later adopted. He met his birth mother for the first time when he was 41 years old.
Leadership retreat for this year was held in Kiev, Ukraine. During the week of reflection, training and planning, our leaders had a chance to meet with Ukrainian ombudsmen in children’s affairs Mykola Kuleba. We were developing the steps to the partnership in reaching the students in Ukraine’s academia with a pro-life message and abstinence lessons.
Also, with God’s grace we completed the training of the new team for the opening of our 6th Life Center in the city of Poltava, which is scheduled for March 13, 2020.
Our educational program is growing fast.
With the school year approaching, some of our Life Centers were contacted by the school officials to schedule the classes with our lectures about sanctity of life. This is very encouraging development, as Save a Life is becoming a trusted source of sanctity of life and abstinence education. We continue to develop trusted relationships with the local educators as this is the great opportunity for positive influence on young generation.
